Decontamination & Decommissioning (D&D) and Survey Documents

When a facility is contaminated with radioactivity as a result of prior nuclear operations and/or research, it has to be decontaminated, decommissioned and surveyed in order to restore it to a safe, clean status where it can be used for other purposes without exposing future users to hazards or risks from radiation or radioactivity.  This process is described in detail in Radiological Release Process.

Key documents prepared during this process are ...

See chronology and release status of these facilities.

The table below gives links to the various release documentation including historical site assessments, final D&D reports, final status survey procedures and reports, ORISE verification surveys, EPA validation survey and documentation reviews, certification dockets and release letters.  Also indicated are whether DHS verification surveys have been performed.  DHS generally does not provide these reports to Boeing.
