Environmental Monitoring Program Plan

An Environmental Monitoring Program Plan for Area IV of SSFL was prepared in 1992 and later revised in 1993 and 1994.  

The objective of this document was to provide a comprehensive plan for environmental monitoring of Area IV of the Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL).  The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) required that each field organization prepare a plan for implementing DOE Orders 5400.1, General Environmental Protection Program, and 5400.5, Radiological Protection of the Public and Environment.  DOE Order 5400.1 requires that environmental monitoring plans also consider the needs for nonradiological (i.e., chemical) monitoring in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

The plan documented the historical and (then) current status of monitoring and cleanup in Area IV from both a radiological and chemical perspective.
