The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is committed to successfully completing the work necessary to allow appropriate future use of the property at ETEC. This commitment includes notifying Boeing when all radiological sites at ETEC have met the criteria for unrestricted use and obtaining Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) closure of permitted facilities.
The DOE work at ETEC is based on the cleanup required to allow appropriate future use of the property at ETEC, meet the conditions of the RCRA permits, and maintain groundwater protection. This work includes finding a use for or removing all government property in accordance with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) procedures, demolishing all DOE facilities and removing all residual radiological materials from past DOE activities conducted at ETEC.
Local interest groups, residents, and political leaders have questions and concerns about the cleanup progress and environmental conditions at ETEC.
